The Fish
By Frank Scoblete
I had a beautiful fish called a Betta Splendens --- a remarkably beautiful fish that is usually found in small mud holes in the eastern part of the world.
Those of you who go to pet shops have seen these fish in teeny-tiny bowls. That's about all the water they need.
Now, I had one for almost two years; living in a big fishbowl, twenty times the amount of water you'll see in those small fish bowls.
He did splendidly.
Then the beautiful AP didn't like that the bowl had some algae (okay, a lot of algae) and told me to clean it. I did. The bowl broke. Then she told me to get a betta specific bowl. I did. It was merely three times what a normal betta bowl holds.
The betta died in it ---- OVERNIGHT!...Overnight! Last night!
My beautiful betta is dead.
Does God have it in for me? Come on, it's just a pretty little fish. It did no harm to anyone. It was on the bottom of the bowl, dead.
