Drunks on a Plane
By Frank Scoblete
They were in their very late 60s or their early 70s. Ladies all celebrating their birthdays; five of them. Maybe they belonged to a birthday club or something. On their way from Chicago to New York for one day of fun and then heading back to Chicago that night.
I was coming home from the Chicago Golden Touch dice control class on Monday morning at 7:30. It had been a great class.
The moment the plane reached cruising altitude they started ordering Bloody Marys. They were laughing and giggling at nothing funny --- at least I didn't think anything being said was funny.
By the time we reached New York (it took about one hour and 40 minutes), they were slurring their words. I didn't think any of them would be capable of getting back on a plane to Chicago.
Their conversation at the end was what they would be drinking on the return flight.
I don't think so.
As we descended one of them got a ferocious headache and started to moan and whine. I was hoping it was just altitude change and not a stroke. She was white as a sheet.
My little adventure on my return from Chicago. I just hope the ladies survived the trip.
